I am Cat Daddy! I lived in Taos, New Mexico for many years. It is still my spiritual home, but now I live on the road. When I am not on the road in an 18 wheeler, I am on the road on one of my Harleys. I love to hike and be in the high lonesome too. I was lucky enough to live in New Zealand for a while, and return whenever I can.
There are places on the planet that are so powerful and intense that it is obvious to everyone. Such places would be the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, or the Southern Alps of New Zealand. All places have a beauty and a power that is subtle and special. That is the challenge to capture, but it is there. The trick is to feel it, see it , and be receptive when it appears.
I love photographing people too. There is a beauty, a playfulness and truth in us all. Like Henri Cartier-Bresson said, there is an elusive moment of truth to be captured when the essence and the power appears. It is everywhere and appears at any time. For me, that is the opportunity that photography offers. It is the chance to hunt for the unique power that is all around us. It is a chance to see ordinary things in a new and compelling way.
Cheers, Cat
